Beat Poet Clive Matson descends from the Bay Area to read and raise funds for sending fellow Beats to the European Beat Studies Network Conference in Paris this September.
This is a rare opportunity to see an authentic Beat Poet in Los Angeles.
Clive Matson began his career as a poet among the Beats in 1960s Greenwich Village. He was mentored and influenced by Allen Ginsberg, John Wieners, Diane di Prima and Herbert Huncke. He is the author of nine volumes of poetry and has taught creative writing workshops centered on his unique “Crazy Child” method since 1978, leading the East Bay Express to laud him as Best Writing Teacher In The East Bay in 2006. The City of Berkeley awarded Clive a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
