Imagine being able to chart the interior of someone’s brain—to witness ideas as they begin to take shape between ecstatically firing neurons. This is “intermedial” artist Marc Fichou’s obsession as evidenced in his most recent exhibition “Outside-In.” Fichou succeeds in “imagining” through a series of maps, complex diagrams; a purely ontological landscape. His video sculpture “Plastron” is simply stunning as it places the viewer front and center of the artist’s own mind. It is as though, through the process of covering his face, the physical attributes of his identity become less important, highlighting instead the process by which we as viewer’s discover his inherent identity. In short, his creative mind.
