Join ESMoA for the Community Opening of Experience 29: NOEMA! A noema is the object, or content, of a thought. ESMoA Experience celebrates and brings to life the history of these unique “thought drawings” on a super-sized scale. Thanks to the Getty Research Institute, the show includes a selection of 15 rare books illustrating how the concept of a noema has changed over time, ranging from Sir Isaac Newton’s Optics (London, 1704) to Marcel Duchamp’s A I’infinitif (New York, 1966).
CREATE: From 11:00am to 3:00pm guests can explore NOEMA with family and friends, take part in a scavenger hunt, and create a unique spiral drawing using upcycled materials. Art materials will be provided. All ages and skills levels are welcome!
Opening and Curatorial Remarks at 2:00pm by:
David Brafman, Getty Research Institute, Rare Books Curator
Marcia Reed, Getty Research Institute, Chief Curator
Matthew Ritchie, featured Artist
The Experience will be open from June 11 until August 27, 2017.
