Abel Alejandre’s meticulously crafted charcoal drawings address the complexities of the human experience with eloquence and power. “Public Secrets” represents an amalgam of acrylic paintings (and paintings on hats) that memorialize the richness of the world we live in—so often taken for granted. Each of the panels articulate an idea or a characteristic as related to conspiracies, deeply embedded family histories and UFOs, exploring how these disparate subjects might somehow be related. Alejandre is also deeply interested in myth, specifically the myths we cultivate in our daily lives. The central large-scale multi-panel work which is predominantly black tones, emphasizes the isolation and singularity of human longing.
