Western Project, formerly a brick-and-mortar gallery in Culver City, now puts on pop-up shows in and around Los Angeles. Their most recent migrated to Jaus Gallery, and the results are a grouping of playful, colorful abstractions that aim to please. Beverly Fishman’s Untitled (Opioid Addiction), 2016, is reminiscent of the kind of luminous minimalism and geometric abstraction that originated in Southern California in the 1960s, while Tim Forcum’s gorgeous oil on canvas, No Way Back To Here, 2016, represents a more formal study of space, light and color, yet the forms also loosely suggest a more expansive narrative of flora and fauna.
