Artist Rory Devine has organized a perfectly exquisite gem of a show at Wilding Cran Gallery. One that revisits—with much celebratory aplomb—the artists who once exhibited at the fabled TRI Gallery back in the 1990s. Though disparate, thankfully the artists featured here are still engaged in a cultural dialogue, still showing up at the studio every day to make stuff. Highlights include the wonderfully enigmatic sculptural wall-hanging by Maura Bendett, and the equally engaging resin work by Nancy Evans. Also, of interest is Robert Levine’s “Red Car Red” series, all paintings of “failed” ’70s car designs. It’s always appreciated to see work that speaks directly to the human experience in a fresh satisfying way.
