Robert Frank’s timeless photographs capture the quintessential human experience, specifically living and working in the city and street culture. This exhibition sponsored by UCLA’s Art History Department, gives us a deeper, more profound understanding of Frank’s commitment not only to the still image, but to printed matter and moving pictures. The images are printed directly onto newsprint, hung casually from the walls. The sheer volume of his output clarifies his role as an indefatigable purveyor of modern culture. This exhibit is only up another week, at the shuttered Santa Monica Art Museum at Bergamot Station. Don’t miss it.
