Marnie Weber is a Los Angeles multimedia artist who works in photography, sculpture, costume, film and performance. She is also the leader of Spirit Girls, an alt-rock music and performance group. Taken together, her work explores issues of gender and mysticism in lush and sometimes surreal settings.

We asked Weber to be Guest Lecture, and she replied the timing couldn’t be better. She just finished her latest project, and the images for this edition of Guest Lecture were taken from The Day of Forevermore, Weber’s upcoming feature-length film to be premiered February 2016 at MAMCO (The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) in Geneva, Switzerland. Filmed on location at Zorthian Ranch, Altadena, California.

Guest Lecture has been a feature in every issue of Artillery, a space for free-standing works by some of LA’s most accomplished artists. We were so taken with Weber’s latest work that for this issue we decided to use it on the cover as well.
