“Down to Earth” Dual Exhibition by Toy Bin Art, Curated by Grace Kim
Los Angeles, CA – Toy Bin Art is excited to present “Down to Earth,” a dual exhibition curated by Grace Kim at BlackMarket Courtyard.
This unique exhibition delves into the abstraction of ancient female physical and emotional beauty through paintings, drawings, and ceramics, presenting the true self, unencumbered by societal constructs, and reflecting God’s creation and mythology figures.
The exhibition features the work of Chalavie, whose art explores various themes and techniques, offering a direct response to life experiences and observations. Chalavie’s recent focus has been on simplifying figures and representations of mythology, typically depicted in realistic and intricate sculpture. Through a harmonious blend of solid colors and simplified body shapes, filled with abstract strokes, Chalavie’s work breathes life into traditionally static images, inviting viewers to appreciate the beauty of simplicity and the power of myth through a unique visual language.
Additionally, Clare Fawn’s ceramic pieces add a tactile and grounded element to the exhibition, showcasing earthy compounds that symbolize the true self, unmasked by societal norms. Clare’s work draws from a lifelong fascination and love for ancient pottery vessels, as well as dreams and visions, co-creating with spirit to bring ceremony into the everyday.
“Down to Earth” invites viewers to reconnect with their origins, reminding us that we all came from dust. The artists’ choice of earthy and pure colors further enhances this theme, grounding the audience in a deep sense of connection to the earth and its ancient history.
