THIRSTY

Pulled from Urban Dictionary, THIRSTY is defined as someone desperate, too eager, or horny; often seeking attention or validation. Or, in this case, Jessica Wilcox’s thesis show.

Otis College of Art and Design is proud to present THIRSTY, a subversive thesis exhibition by MFA Fine Arts candidate Jessica Wilcox. The exhibit will run from March 4th to March 6th at Otis College of Art and Design’s Bolsky Gallery, located in Los Angeles. A reception will be held at the gallery Thursday, March 6th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm PST.

Through a mix of large-scale puppets, installation, video, and painting, Jessica Wilcox creates a vulnerable, cringey, and humorous space centered around objects as placeholders for desire… and thirst. Within the framework of Jane Ward’s Tragedy of Heterosexuality, the artist leans on absurdity, satire, and scale to explore her quest for human connection, unfulfilled longing, played out fantasies, and excuses to hang-out or make-out.

“By the end of the show, you’ll want to make-out, giggle, or cry!”
“My unquenchable thirst was finally satisfied!”
