Venice Biennale artist and Pollock Prize recipient Todd Williamson returns with a compelling new exhibition that explores the fluid boundaries between influence, time, and transcendence. In The Space Between Now and Forever, Williamson examines how leadership, legacy, and human ambition echo across history—and extends that conversation beyond the terrestrial, toward the vast unknown.
Building on the conceptual foundations of his acclaimed 2019 Biennale installation Processional, Williamson deepens his exploration of power and presence through his signature approach: layered color fields, subtle textures, and formal restraint. In this new series, however, the inquiry stretches beyond the immediate, imagining how thought and memory are preserved—not just in history or art, but in the very architecture of space.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this exhibition is its literal connection to the cosmos. A fragment of Williamson’s artistic vision is set to be archived in the Lunar Library, joining a collection of human culture that will be preserved on the surface of the Moon.
At the heart of these works lies a quiet tension—between the permanent and the fleeting. Figures and forms appear only to dissolve again, suspended within surfaces that seem to hold memory in motion. Through sweeping brushwork and atmospheric composition, Williamson captures moments of reflection and transformation in a single breath.
The Space Between Now and Forever extends the spiritual resonance of his earlier chapel installation in Venice, where silence and contemplation met the energy of the present. In Los Angeles, that conversation now expands outward—contemplating how culture, expression, and influence persist beyond the boundaries of time, place, or even gravity.
This is a body of work that asks not only what endures, but how we recognize our place within that endurance.
