Matter Studio Gallery is pleased to present The Shape of Matter, the first solo exhibition by New York-based artist Meagan Cignoli. Please join us for the opening reception on Sunday, July 13, from 4 to 8 PM.
In The Shape of Matter, Cignoli explores themes of digital language, distance, and fragility through a series of large-scale sculptures, ceramic text pieces, and experimental bas reliefs.
This new body of work reflects on the deep and rapid connections made through digital communication across oceans. Inspired by words exchanged with friends, each piece captures the emotional weight of long-distance relationships. By sculpting these moments into physical forms, Cignoli honors the fleeting yet profound exchanges that have shaped her life.
Cignoli studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology (NYC), Polimoda (Florence, Italy), Universidad de La Habana (Cuba), and Pratt Institute (NYC). She has exhibited her work in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
