The season kicks off on Sunday, October 9 with a dynamic performance by UK-based Manchester Collective and South-African cellist Abel Selacoe. Selacoe is an artist who moves across diverse genres and styles – he also just released his debut album Where is Home? (Hae Ke Kae) on September 23, 2022.
Their dynamic collaboration, Sirocco, is a celebration of folk traditions from around the world led by the inimitable Selaocoe, a musician described as “a star in the making” (The Arts Desk). Expect a bristling, high-energy start to the 2022/23 season concert season with a program that weaves between original settings of African music, Danish folk songs, and classical music like you’ve never heard it before.
