C.J. Boyd joins Brand Library & Art Center for an evening of music accompanying Joshua Hagler’s exhibition, The River Lethe. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Boyd uses bass loops and voices in order to try and stop time. On perpetual tour since March 2008, movement and stasis are both at the center of his music, weaving together improvisation with a sparse, minimalist aesthetic. Boyd creates waves of sound and worlds of provocative unlived memories through his singular approach to the upright bass and electric bass guitar. His oceanic sound is complimented by ambient soundscapes and unsyncopated rhythms. Boyd runs the music label Obsolete Media Objects and takes walks everyday.
