For the last twelves years, GBGLA has presented The Cityscape Show – each edition has taken a different angle or theme and has covered a wide ranging group of artists and works.
As life is settling into this new normal, we are taking a moment to appreciate what makes Los Angeles and Southern California unique – what makes it ICONIC as seen through the eyes of artists. For some, it might be a well known landmark, for others it might be the way the light feels here, for still others it might be a familiar landscape that feels like home.
Los Angeles is a strange place – some consider it soulless and heartless. But that is far from the truth – Los Angeles has a soul that is strange and compelling and multi-faceted and ever evolving. The constant is change and that is what draws people here – for the sense of opportunity mixed with a bit of a grit, for the history of dream-making, for the fantasy sometimes more than the reality. Iconic Los Angeles inhabits our collective unconscious.
The show includes works by: Adam Harrison, Alex Roulette, Ana Medina, Ben Schwab, Bryan Ida, Christine Rasmussen, Danny Heller, Jay Brockman, Kevin Yaun, Lindsey Warren, Lisa Golightly, Lynne McDaniel, Mary-Austin Klein, Mela M, Michael Ward, Patricia Chidlaw, Raymond Logan, Ron Rizk, Terry Thompson, and Victoria MacMillan.
