The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA), in partnership with the Korean-American Calligraphy Association (KACA), presents Journey of Ink Fragrance, celebrating the 35th anniversary of KACA and its ongoing commitment to preserving and advancing Korean calligraphic traditions in the United States.
Featuring 42 works by KACA members and specially invited artists, the exhibition explores the artistic journeys of Korean-American calligraphers and the enduring connection between calligraphy, cultural heritage, and personal expression. The exhibition encompasses a broad range of practices, including Hangeul calligraphy, Hanja calligraphy, contemporary calligraphy, muninhwa (literati painting), and seogak (calligraphic wood engraving).
The exhibition also includes posthumous works by the late Hanong Kim Soon-Wook, works by veteran artist Songyeon Lee Young-Ae, and seogak works by specially invited artist Mokwoo Jeong Ki-Ho.
Through the theme “Journey of Ink Fragrance,” the exhibition reflects on 35 years of dedication to the brush and the transmission of Korean calligraphic traditions across generations and cultures.
