Kay and Nyamo Anuluoha are stylists and owners of the oldest African-print clothing store in Los Angeles: Kutula of Africana (formerly Africana Imports). They will discuss the legacy of their family-owned business and their role in providing African-print clothes for Marvel’s blockbusters Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Black Panther (2018), as well as exclusively dressing actor David Oyelowo for premieres of Disney’s Queen of Katwe (2016) and Black Panther. From 12-5pm, Ankara Fest LA hosts a Pop-Up Shop in the Davis Courtyard. This marketplace includes five LA-based vendors offering clothing, bags, and jewelry in conjunction with the exhibition Striking Iron: The Art of African Blacksmiths.
