Chef Jasani Jacobs, a DJ, culinary whiz and hotsauce maker, has curated a perfect blend of music and small bites to accompany the native plant life, and (hopefully) beautiful sunset at the top of Fiji Hill.
Jacobs hails from Georgetown, Guyana. His style of cooking is best described as Caribbean Soul Food, with a philosophy of food practice that is centered around ‘love’.
Guyana is a place that encourages finding as many ways as possible to make yourself an asset, learn a skill or a trade. Jasani’s mother and her siblings made pastries and other types of food to sell on the streets, instilling in Jasani to be as self-sufficient as possible.
Jacobs hopes to educate people about his culture, serve some delicious food and hopefully insight moments of “collective effervescence” amongst attendees.
Our history is deep and rich. We are a people with much to offer, often making very good use of the little we have. Food is our nourishment, we communicate so much about ourselves by what and how we serve. When people leave, I want them to feel comforted and loved. — Jasani Jacobs
