Estudio Persona are excited to present a solo exhibition of the work of LA-based artist, Mary Little.
“In my work I explore the interaction between light, surface and gravity. The works take the form of rhythmic, undulating hollows and rises, suggesting images of landscape or bodyscape. My sensibilities are rooted in a childhood among the lush rolling farmlands of Ireland and its wild rugged coastlines. My work is ritualistic in its process: cutting, then sewing cotton canvas; much as a tailor would make a suit. The finished works are an interplay between my emotions, precision planning and the unpredictability of the canvas.”
A 2019 recipient of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, Mary has been featured in Artillery, Fabrik, and Luxe Magazine. Her work is held in private collections across the globe; in public collections such as at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London; as well as in permanent collections at Vitra Design Museum in Basel and Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
Please join us for an opening event on Wednesday March 18th.
