Director: Scottnes L. Smith, 2015; 103 mins
Presented in conjunction with our current exhibition “Pantsula 4 LYF.”

Billed as South Africa’s first commercial feature-length dance film, Hear Me Move tells the story of street dance prodigy, Muzi, who struggles to keep a promise he made to his mother to never dance again after his equally gifted father was murdered twelve years prior. Internationally released in 2015, Hear Me Move has since received five nominations at the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), with select film screenings at the Cannes and London Film Festivals. Join the Fowler for an exclusive screening of the film South African Arts and Culture Minister describes as “making a positive impact around the world” by “showing the youth what is possible.”

Part of the series Freestyle: Global Hip-Hop Dance on Film.

Beat the summer heat in the Fowler’s Lenart Auditorium with three feature-length films that showcase contemporary hip-hop and dance from three continents. Free and open to all.
