Sayon Syprasoeuth “All Good Things”
June 20th – August 1st, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 20th, 2026 from 12-3pm

Artists & Makers Studios is please to present Sayon Syprasoeuth’s exhibition of paintings entitled, “All Good Things.” The exhibit runs from June 20th through August 1st, with an opening reception on June 20th from 12-3pm. Syprasoeuth’s work rises from the intersection of memory, displacement, and the enduring power of Khmer identity. As a Cambodian refugee who fled war and rebuilt life in a new land, his art becomes both a compass and a bridge—connecting the fragments of a homeland left behind with the evolving self, shaped in the diaspora. Rooted in Cambodia’s rich cultural fabric, his practice draws on resilience as its foundation. Canvas, paper, and collected materials become vessels that carry inherited stories, ancestral echoes, and the quiet bravery of those who survived and sought refuge. Through vibrant colors, layered textures, and shadowed forms, Syprasoeuth confronts the tension between loss and renewal, honoring histories marked by trauma while celebrating the human capacity to rebuild. Each piece is a meditation on identity in motion—where traditional Khmer imagery meets contemporary expression, and where displacement is transformed into strength. His paintings’ approach mirrors the refugee journey itself: fluid, improvisational, adaptive. In this merging of past and present, he explores how scars can become symbols of survival and how cultural memory endures even as it evolves. His art is more than personal reflection; it is an invitation. Syprasoeuth asks viewers to enter a kaleidoscope of Khmer stories, to witness the beauty and complexity of a people shaped by migration, and to recognize shared humanity across borders.

Sayon Syprasoeuth is a Cambodian American artist, educator, and community organizer whose work centers visual storytelling, memory, cultural resilience, and community healing. He holds an MFA from Claremont Graduate University, and his practice is deeply informed by his lived experience as a refugee and his commitment to supporting refugee, immigrant, and diaspora communities.
