Come celebrate the life and legacy of the late artist Russ Butler and his dog, Iggy, with the publication of their first book, Russ & Iggy’s Art Alphabet. The story of a dude, his dog and their art was conceived and co-written by Victoria Looseleaf and JT Steiny, with whimsical, and colorful illustrations by Steiny.
It will take place in the beautiful rooftop space of Heidi Duckler Dance, Suite 1100B in the Bendix Building in DTLA.
In addition to Victoria Looseleaf and JT Steiny signing the book, JT will do flash drawings of attendees who purchase the book, AND, there will be performances including:
The Coldwater Trio: Michael Intriere, cello; Haskel Joseph, guitar; & Bruce Friedman, trumpet; the Dick and Jane Family Orchestra; performance artist John Fleck; and poet/artist Mike M. Mollett

The premise of the book is simple but profound: Wouldn’t it be cool if your best friend Russ and his Jack Russell terrier Iggy – who are no longer with us – came back to teach the world about art?
It was this idea that inspired award-winning arts journalist, Victoria Looseleaf, to join forces with award-winning artist, JT Steiny, to create a fantastical work dedicated to bringing art and beauty to the world, fulfilling Russ’s mission. Looseleaf will sign books and discuss its origins and many iterations, while Steiny will do quick sketch drawings of those who buy books.
Combining playful rhymes with great works of art from history, Looseleaf and Steiny have given us an alphabet book like no other.
