Small Green Door presents Rood Vail, an exhibition that explores the past, present, and future of religion and spirituality, and how the two coexist through painting, digital illustration, and immersive installations. Set under a near-full moon, the evening will feature 10 pieces, both large and small, that are purposefully placed throughout the gallery’s 5,000 square foot space.
As our connections to faith and otherworldliness evolve in an ever-changing society, this show hopes to actively demonstrate how LA-based artist Isaac “Chaco” Ruelas envisions, interprets, and expresses their own spirituality.

Isaac “Chaco” Ruelas, a non-binary Spiritual Artist and Los Angeles native, finds influence and inspiration in the cultural diversity around them. Their parents immigrated from Mexico in 1980 and quickly established themselves as Pastors of the Pentecostal faith at an all Spanish-speaking congregation. Ruelas’ childhood of religious immersion framed the artistic background for their spirituality and creativity. Having studied Cultural Psychology at Azusa Pacific University, Ruelas hopes to influence the human psyche through art.
