Out to Pasture exhibits states of being within a shared natural order. The rhythms of humanity and the living world unfold in parallel cycles of transformation.
The title is an idiom that marks an endpoint where productivity is understood to cease, yet transformation continues. The open field becomes both a site of freedom and a site of quiet loss, holding space for the dualities and continuity that exists between man, machine, and nature. What appears as peace may also hold the sadness of transformation: the soft violence of letting go.
The works trace points of contact where the self meets the world, where memory meets matter, and where the personal opens onto something larger than the individual. The land does not wait for us, not controlled by us. It mirrors human feeling, it offers the consolation of metaphor. It continues—composting, flowering, eroding, regenerating. Within this, the human is not a sovereign subject standing apart from nature, but one small participant among many, entangled within the same organic and inorganic systems that make shape and are shaped in return.
Ultimately, Out to Pasture proposes that the land continues beyond us, the atmosphere outlasts the moment, and the cycles of existence persist regardless of human presence.
