The collaborative practice of Amy Kaps and Kaye Freeman, known as HIBISCUS TV, unfolds at the intersection of performance, painting, sculpture, film, photography, and installation. Their work occupies a place where humor becomes philosophy and absurdity becomes revelation. Here, laughter is never an escape from reality—it is the doorway through which reality becomes visible.
Working with handmade costumes, recycled materials, invented characters, painted environments, and theatrical interventions, HIBISCUS TV transforms the familiar into something wonderfully unfamiliar. Their imaginative worlds expose the fragile architecture of contemporary life, asking us to reconsider the habits, desires, and assumptions that quietly shape our relationship with one another and with the Earth itself.
There is remarkable generosity in their approach. They never accuse. They never preach. Instead, they trust that wonder can accomplish what outrage cannot.
