Title: One Story’s Not Enough
Face A Gallery is pleased to present One Story’s Not Enough, co-curated with Grace Kim, a seven person drawing exhibition which evolve to painting, installation works by artists IAMAUGIERAY, Clarisse Abelarde, Inok Jeong, Jack Avetisyan, Philip Vaughan, Sung Sil Rhee, Wonsil Kim
When it comes to drawing, an artist takes several steps in their chaotic creative process before making a completed work. This preliminary process of the work is a key element in bringing life to the artists’ vision and message they may want to imbue.
Sometimes this process is ambiguous and rough, and it may seem to the viewer that the artist may be inexperienced or the finished work lacking in completeness. However, from a creative point of view, such an act itself is a very valuable attempt. It is the beginning and there is no doubt that it serves as an important stepping stone for the artist to work in depth.
Through this drawing exhibition, which closes off the year, artists can showcase their work by showing the “messy” creative process. This behind-the-scenes look into the preparation process, allows the audience to approach a more expanded art realm.
Face A Gallery allocates individual spaces to the artists so that they can creatively define the concept of drawing and try them out freely, breaking away from the existing conceptual drawing materials and techniques. The seven artists were carefully selected by the gallery with curator Grace Kim are promising artists who are building and developing their own fields in different paths in an interesting way.
Viewers can see the beginning and completion of the artist’s creation. For the artists, it will be a valuable experience that will allow you to look back on where they started and where they are going…
