Life is movement, nonrestrictive, constant, immutable.Goes from here to there but never ceases to move. It’s an endless tide just as painting is the endless movement of the artist’s hand, after all if the brush or spatula or knife stops the artworks falls in to atrophy. Nothing has the fluidity of dancing, and nothing is as rhythmic to paint as the ballet. Degas gave his life to it and in every canvas he produced endless bodies, today all gone, are still moving and dancing. It’s the same dance that Jonatan scatters on his still canvases to transform them in something dynamic, something that turns, jumps and produces myriad pirouettes. Nietzsche once said, Life without music would be a mistake. In that regards Jonatan’s brush reminds us that painting without the ballet would be a giant error. Art above all must be life affirming, and nothing affirms life more than movement, and there once finds that dance is life made poetry.

La vida es movimiento, irrestricto, constante, inmutable. Va de aca para allá pero nunca se detiene. Es algo asi como una marea constante como la pintura es el movimiento ininterrupido de la mano del artista, despues de todo si el pincel o la espátula o el cuchillo no se mueven la pintura se atrofia. Nada es tan fluido como la danza, como tampoco hay algo tan rítmico para pintar como el ballet. Degas entregó su vida al ballet y en sus canvas aún se mueven cuerpos hoy idos y sin embargo todavía entregados al baile. Ese mismo baile que Jonatan descarga en las telas inertes para transformarlas en algo dianámicas, algo que gira, salta y nos entrega mil piruetas. Nietzsche dijo alguna vez: La vida sin musica sería un error. De la misma forma el pincel de Jonatan nos recuerda que la pintura sin el ballet sería tambén una equivocación mayúscula. El arte debe ser algo que afirme la vida y no hay nada que la afirme más que el moviemto y ahí la danza es la vida hecha poesía.
