Women Artist with Something to Say
TAG Gallery presents four artists solo shows and more through October in an all women fine art showcase. Shows are open to the public. Featured artists include Pam Douglas, Jaime Coffey Bateman, Elyse Wyman, Sunny Kim, and a group exhibit from Rebecca Maria, Anahid Boghosian, and Tanya Mikaela. October 6-31.
Sanctuary Part Two: The Rafts Pam Douglas
In her dramatic installation, Sanctuary Part Two: The Rafts, artist Pam Douglas presents refugees escaping by sea across the gallery floor from a 36-foot abstract mural of a devastated land.
Pam began Sanctuary last year as a visceral response to refugees seeking asylum on our border and around the world. In 2020 the series grew into a metaphor for all of us adrift in the winds of change.
In Sanctuary Part One (2019) life-size figures travel by land. Now Part Two is travel by sea. Pam built hand- made rafts from simulated logs and tree bark. These 12 rough crafts – some afloat, some capsized — each 4 to 5 feet high, fly canvas “sails” where Pam lovingly drew their passengers in charcoal.
Intentions Jaime Coffey Bateman
TAG Artist Jaime Coffey Bateman’s solo exhibit Intentions is an exploration of the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. Jaime’s work spans from her 2005 trip to the region to current discoveries with lithium mining and it’s imprint on the landscape.
Jaime works in egg tempera, a mixture of egg yolk, dry pigment, and water. Her new paintings are filled with multiple layers for each color, highlighting nuances between tone, transparency and vibrancy.
“With this particular show,” states Jaime, “the fragility of life and our interdependence is very present for me.”
Crestview Elyse Wyman
Perched high on a mountaintop overlooking Los Angeles, TAG Artist Elyse Wyman shot a series of photos from February 2019 to March 2020. From a distance she depicts a sweeping city bathed in light. But zooming in on the vast megalopolis, Elyse continued her series with a closer view of the city below. City streets shock with their gritty sidewalks and freeway underpasses teaming with the homeless. The crisis of public health and basic human needs belie the view from the crest.
50% of sales of artwork from this exhibit will be donated to Covenant House, a non-profit youth shelter that provides sanctuary and support for homeless and trafficked youth.
Starry Night Sunny Kim
Starry Night explores TAG Artist Sunny Kim’s curiosity about the mysteries and majesty of the universe. Each canvas acts as a vessel for the endless possibilities the cosmos offers.
“The beauty of the Universe extends far beyond what one sees in a photograph of the heavens,” explains Sunny. “I try to capture the emotions associated with the vast incomprehensibility of the cosmos, the expanse of eternity, and the perfect union of chaos and order.”
Pieces of Me — Fragments to Harmony Rebecca Marie, Anahid Boghosian, and Tanya Mikaela
Through the use of paint, paper and other materials, three contemporary LA artists—Anahid Boghosian, Tanya Mikaela, and TAG Artist Rebecca Marie—explore questions of real-life societal expectations and constraints regarding women’s roles today.
Acknowledging the many different facets of experience and the fractured aspect of life in today’s world of upheaval, the artists take pieces of different materials and combine them into works that speak of emotions, inequity, uncertainty and unity.

Each year, TAG invites non-member artists to exhibit at the annual California Open and L.A Open Exhibits. These shows are juried by an internationally recognized artist or art community member.
