Join chef and author Bricia Lopez for a special talk and tasting event that explores the connections between food, memory, and history. A partner at the celebrated Guelaguetza restaurant and author of two acclaimed cookbooks, Lopez is a vital voice in Los Angeles’s food community and a passionate advocate for Oaxacan culture. Lopez considers food a living archive—one that carries memories across generations and preserves the people, places, and traditions that shape lives. Through stories and family recipes, she explores the role of food in Oaxaca, from the art of making it to the pleasures and traditions of sharing it. Following her talk, guests are invited to savor Oaxacan cuisine and sample regional mezcals in a communal setting, extending the conversation through shared food and good company.

Bricia Lopez is a chef, business leader, acclaimed author, and a staunch figure in the Los Angeles food scene. She is a partner at Guelaguetza restaurant, a recipient of the James Beard America’s Classics Award, and praised by the late food critic Jonathan Gold as “the best Oaxacan restaurant in the United States.” Bricia has authored two cookbooks: OAXACA: Home Cooking From the Heart of Mexico, which became an instant Amazon bestseller and earned a 2020 James Beard nomination, and Asada, named one of the best cookbooks of 2023 by The New York Times. In collaboration with her siblings, she launched two nationally distributed brands: the bottled cocktail mix I Love Micheladas™ and the Guelaguetza™ mole starters. Through her work, Bricia continues to honor her heritage, inspire others, and foster connections through food. Her passion for Oaxaca extends beyond the kitchen, actively promoting the culture, traditions, and spirit of her beloved homeland in everything she does.
