We are pleased to announce A THOUSAND TALES, a solo exhibition of works by Mobina Nouri based on the Middle Eastern epic One Thousand and One Nights. Opening to the public on Saturday, February 19th, from 3 – 7 pm, the exhibition will be on view until March 12th, 2022.
A THOUSAND TALES is Mobina Nouri’s first solo exhibition with ADVOCARTSY and in the United States. Serving as a contemporary voice of Shahrazād’s nightly machinations, each piece in this richly detailed body of work depicts narratives from the legendary collection. These meandering stories navigate complex territories, crossing geographies and cultures while negotiating love, tragedy, comedy, and erotica. The artist draws from the meta-fictions embedded within Middle Eastern folklore and, through tender and densely detailed hand-drawings outlined in ink upon canvas, transposes them into a place where they might articulate both intimate and universal contemporary terrain.
All are welcome to attend the opening for A THOUSAND TALES at ADVOCARTSY’s West Hollywood gallery space on Saturday, February 19th, 3 – 7 pm. Both the artist and ADVOCARTSY founder and director, Roshi Rahnama, will be present. No appointment will be necessary. Safety protocols to be observed. Proof of vaccination is required prior to entry and masks are mandatory at all times indoors.
