Mirage is an optical phenomenon by Angela Izzo and Rain Lucien Matheke, based on the elements of water, earth, fire, and metal. Focusing on plant-based hallucinations and fantasy. Something that appears real, or possible, but is not in fact so. All created in camera or by naturally occurring elemental reactions.
Izzo’s work is surrealistic and poetic within the beauty of the mundane, using all in-camera film techniques. Matheke’s work celebrates states of arrested decay and transition utilizing the body and natural elements.
This show will feature new, recent, and collaborative works, by the two artists showcasing earth-bound and landscape images creating an immersive experience, triggering all of the senses to evoke a euphoric and trance-like state.
