Whether it’s our reproductive or mental health, our relationship status or relationship with our bodies, women experience deeply rooted shame throughout our lives. Unlike guilt, which tells us we’ve done something wrong, shame makes us feel like we ARE something wrong. UNRAVEL is an intimate look at these ideas and explores the process of confronting and releasing the shame and stigma surrounding our bodies, health, and relationships. How can we stop shaming and start embracing?
MashUp Contemporary Dance Company is an all female non-profit organization that celebrates strong women through contemporary dance. MashUp aims to create artistically innovative works and engage diverse communities in the invaluable experience of dance through company performances, after school education programming, and participation within the LA Dance Community.
UNRAVEL is MashUp’s full length performance in honor of Women’s Equality Day. In addition, MashUp has partnered with female photographer Bree McCool and the empowering education center LOOM, to present incredible photography and discussion inspired by this topic at the performances.
