Join us in the garden for a discussion about the strategic partnership between local organizations, Piece by Piece and Skid Row Housing Trust, who offer mosaic art workshops to Skid Row residents to support wellness and increased quality of life with a path to earned supplemental income. Meet Dawn Mendelson, Managing Director at Piece by Piece, and Monique Davis, Chief Community and Engagement Officer at Skid Row Housing Trust, who will lead a conversation about homelessness in Los Angeles and the ways both nonprofits work to empower underserved communities through artistic practice.
Following the discussion, engage with other attendees and make a contribution to the organizations through a hands-on mosaic workshop led by Piece by Piece artists, where participants will create heart-shaped magnets to be included in Welcome Home Kits provided to individuals moving into Skid Row Housing Trust and other supportive housing units. Piece by Piece will also offer a curated selection of the mosaic creations from artists in the program, the proceeds of which will go directly to funding the organizations.
