Chelsea Boxwell and Sarah Collins
Opening Friday, Nov. 1st
On view through November 30th

“Lucid Ecdysis refers to times of clarity through periods of confusion or insanity, and rejuvenating properties of self-reflection.”

Join us for the opening of Lucid Ecdysis, a two-person show by Sarah Collins and Chelsea Boxwell. We’ll be debuting their new collection alongside Akashic Records Readings with Diana Stahl, Body Piercings by Mickey, Free Wine and Beer for all, and more! The evening is free! Join us anytime 7:30pm-10:30pm to dive into new artwork and connect with a wonderful community.

Ecdysis is the process of shedding a skin, mainly referring to snakes. Both artists were born in 1989, the year of The Snake, and are currently going through a Saturn Return, marking their 30th year this month. The Scorpio and The Snake have the ability to shed their past and be reborn many times over. This is a transformative time as they navigate new periods of growth in their lives, art careers, and refine their perspectives on the future.

This collaborative show expresses the similarities in two vastly different visual artists. Scorpios are one of the most intuitive signs of the zodiac, and both artists hone in on this natural ability throughout their art practices. Sarah and Chelsea typically work through different processes and with different mediums. Iridescent cellophane is a commonality amongst the works for this show. The artists say they were inspired by its transparency and the reflective properties that shifts perspective on objects and colors. The cellophane represents vulnerable layers shedding in a beautiful way. This exhibition is a bridge between the past and infinite possibilities.
