Here artists Fran Siegel and Sandy Rodriguez talk about the connections and communities of inspiration of their practice, Los Angeles, and their newly commissioned works in the exhibition. This talk is part of the programming for Here exhibition, a timely and unique group exhibition presented by Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) and Barnsdall Art Park Foundation, which is currently debuting at Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. The fall show examines shifting physical/geographical and conceptual/imagined boundaries (and boundlessness) in, and around, the metropolis of LA and how those barriers act to prevent people from interacting and exchanging. Boundaries provide us the physical and conceptual framework to delineate the idea of “self” from “other,” and “here” from “there.” For most information, visit www.lamag.org
