Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery

In this participatory artwork, Juried Exhibition 2018 artist Hannah Varamini invites you to collaboratively assemble rolls of Kimbap, a quintessential Korean food. The workshop will explore the histories that this food symbolizes and reflect on the question of what it means to own and ingest both history and language. Please note seating is on a first come, first served basis. Assemble rolls of kimbap with exhibition artist Hannah Varamini and discuss the history of this quintessential Korean food. This programming is part of Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery’s Juried Exhibition 2018, a large-scale group exhibition introducing a new generation of LA artists, which is on display through September 16 at famed Barnsdall Art Park (4800 Hollywood Boulevard). Awarded biannually by the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), the pioneering Juried exhibitions have been running for six decades and this year’s show builds on its legacy, providing a platform for emerging artists in SoCal since 1953 to exhibit at one of the country’s few remaining municipal art galleries.
