LMU’s Laband Art Gallery presents its fall 2026 exhibition, “Phyllis Green: Of My Own Making” from Sept. 24 to Dec. 5, 2026. “Of My Own Making” brings together 15 years of artwork made by Los Angeles-based artist Phyllis Green, including more than 25 insightful and witty sculptural and performative objects that interact with the body and its environs.
Driven by spiritual, philosophical, and political inquiry, Green’s diverse work ranges from handmade garments inspired by ancient Hindu Vedic parables to conceptual wearable furniture and gender-centric twists on modernist art. At its core, Green’s 50-year practice is an ongoing exploration of her lived experience — examining both her own body and how the human form is collectively represented.
Opening Reception
