It is with great pleasure that after a very productive year I can invite you to the final Open Studio of the decade. In August I moved my studio to downtown LA and I am so happy here. I share the space with Kaye Freeman and Miguel Perez and look forward to greeting you in our creative hub.
Along with Kaye Freeman, with whom I collaborated and curated the MOAH LA Painting show in Lancaster, CA: Anatomy of a Painting, I would like you to join us as we recreate the entire show at our studio.
Regarding the Exhibition, Betty Brown of Art and Cake wrote:
Performance artist Amy Kaps may seem an unlikely participant in a painting show, but she has collaborated with painter Kaye Freeman to “perform” a series of paintings by covering her nude body with pigment and pressing it onto draped canvases. (Think Yves Klein from a woman’s perspective.) Kaps’ body “prints” establish the structure for Freeman’s explosions of color, gesture, and texture in generous compositions that expand across the walls of the East Gallery in MOAH. One canvas is so wide it wraps around a corner of the gallery, like a cityscape unfolding into space. A white “body print” appears to be surfing a large lavender wave across a lush urban lake.
I will also be showing photographs and Objet d’art available for purchase.

We will be conducting a Toy Drive as well for local children. If you have any new toys please bring them along unwrapped. Your kindness will be greatly appreciated.
