Please join us Thursday, April 9, at 7pm for a conversation with Shapes of Imposition artists Kim Farbota and Svetlana Shigroff, led by Emily Silver.
DMST co-founder and exhibition curator Frannie Hemmelgarn came up with the idea of pairing these two artists after noticing the overlapping yet contrasting ways Kim and Svetlana treat the female form. Through painting and sculpture, they consider the ways in which expectations, projections, and implanted ideas impose upon the body. In their joint show, contact is never neutral.
