Pool y Marianela made international headlines for their 2016 exhibition, Barbie: The Plastic Religion, as photos of the duo presenting one of their customized Barbie sculptures to Pope Francis went viral. With their latest concept, Kidstianism, they have continued to explore the intersection of religion and commerce, expanding beyond Barbie into all manner of beloved toy lines–from Carebears to Thundercats. But the centerpiece of their opening reception will be a lifesize, edible Christ cake that we’ll be selling by the slice. Sorry, no RSVPs. This will be a first come, first served communion of sorts.
Click Mort was more than just another artist on our roster, he was a beloved friend. The artist born Christopher Doran had been working toward his final exhibition when he succumbed to illness in October, 2017. Posthumorous is a posthumous exhibition of ALL of his remaining sculptures, many of which have never before been seen.
Dan Barry makes his La Luz de Jesus feature debut with Passing Time, an exhibition that fittingly addresses mortality and change via his nostalgic assemblages composed of archival bookplates and showcased in vintage frames but evoking a very contemporary sense of empathy.
