The cultural and physical landscape is broken by power structures. In “Blemishes,” the work of Juan Gomez, Dakota Noot, and Christopher Velasco use the industrial location of the Brewery to display work that reveals inner trauma, negative stereotypes, and mental illness in a public context. Just like the cracked pavements of the Brewery, their art explores inner and outer blemishes experienced by POC and the LGBTQ+ community. As members of these ostracized groups, the artists attack narratives of hate and violence through this collective project with works of imperfection and elemental change.
