Irony, a gritty new gallery in the heart of Topanga Canyon, is celebrating its Grand Opening with a solo show by Matt Aston. Irony is nestled in the mountains in the quaint cobbled courtyard in Topanga Canyon’s original mid 19th century shopping mall surrounded by boutiques, cafés, and music venues. Topanga Canyon is an established creative mountain community, with a long history of artists, musicians, and eccentrics living and working there.
Matt Aston is a Los Angeles Based Artist working in commissioned Portraits, Set and Stage Design, as an Artist to the Entertainment Industry, and an Educator. Matt paints in acrylics and oils with incredible achievement in layering, texturing, and color. His style ranges within abstract expressionism and realistic figurative work, with an interest in conscious decision, chaos, and order – giving the viewer an experience of near realism from a distance that changes to chaos as you move in on the canvas. His large-scale works bring the room to life and take the viewer in with movement, warmth, and curious contemplation.
Artist Reception starts at 7 with drinks and h’ordeuvres, incredible art and great company, including the artist Matt Aston. Following the reception the party moves next door to Corazon Performing Arts to chill, mingle, and dance with Thanos mixing groove beats.
