Fabiola Gironi’s still-life paintings are autobiographical landscapes. Forging connections between the ordinary and the profound, the paintings balance representation and abstraction and delve into psychological archetypes, dreams, and cultural references, weaving together a narrative that is both deeply personal and simultaneously universal.

Gironi was born and raised in Italy and and spent more than ten years living in California. Her paintings draw inspiration from artists ranging from Diebenkorn and the Bay Area Figurative painters to Italian Renaissance painters such as Veronese. Steeped in the saturated light of Southern California, Gironi’s paintings are jewel toned and intensely rich in their color palette. Her process of layering acrylics, oil, color sticks, and occasionally wool embroidery results in paintings that are dynamic and elegant – structured yet playful. Often depicting objects from domestic spaces, the paintings are formal yet unexpected in their compositions and enticing in their luscious colors.

Born in Italy, Gironi earned her BA in the History of Art at the University Statale of Milan and a Master in Economics. After living in Spain and the UK, she moved to San Francisco, CA where she lived for 8 years.

With a lifelong passion for drawing that began in her early childhood, she embarked on her journey in painting in 2017, studying under various accomplished American artists, including Jeffrey Watts, Edward Praybe, Alexander Kanevsky, Zoey Frank, and Sangram Majumdar.

Currently, she divides her time between Milan, Italy, and Los Angeles, California.
