In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander month, local contemporary artist, Dr. Anson Yew, presents a thought-provoking art exhibition at Exhale Unlimited Gallery in Chinatown, DTLA.

Through Yew’s story of paintings, audiences can engage and continue having conversations about racial discrimination, cultural empowerment, “Asian-Americanness”, and how that affects what is happening in the world today.

The exhibition unfolds a perfect harmony of “art,” “story,” and “awareness.” Months prior to COVID-19, Yew felt led to paint some reflective art pieces which explores and affirms his identity as an Asian American.

Now amid this global pandemic, and with heightened xenophobia and violence towards Asians and Asian Americans, this exhibition is even more relevant to our current culture and context. Yew’s collections are centered around the folded paper crane, symbolizing longevity and peace.

Audiences will explore and feel how important it is in this particular time that we learn to bring peace when there is so much divisiveness and racial discord. The exhibition will collaborate with a local Asian American leadership non-profit organization.
