MOAH presents the special artist talk “Cudra Clover in Conversation with Betty Brown.” They will discuss Clover’s current exhibition, “Hysteria,”a three-part show comprising Clover’s large format silk paintings, an interactive installation room, and a visitor-activated audio and visual experience. Part one consists of a curated display of Clover’s silk paintings of biomorphic abstracts inspired by nature and microscopic life. Elements of Clover’s biomorphic silk paintings were digitized, morphed, and animated, then used to create parts two and three of the exhibition. Part two is Clover’s installation of the Hysteria Room. It features a mix of antique, baroque furniture previously owned by a bankrupt billionaire. Inspiration for the Hysteria Room came from a magazine article featuring a photograph of the previous president and his family seated upon gold gilded furniture and information on the 1.75 million dollar remodel of the White House. Lastly, part three is a new interactive sound and video installation titled Hysterical Women. Completely altering the gallery space, Hysterical Women consists of a changing projection of multiple women in various states of hysteria. This installation is the first showing of Clover’s new work. Hysteria runs through 9/5.
