Billis/Williams Gallery is pleased to present Featuring: Adam Harrison, the gallery’s third exhibition of the artist’s work. The exhibition features his new motif of work. Well known for his expansive urban landscape paintings, in this new series, Harrison has turned his focus inwards. The exhibition opens with a reception on January 10th and continues through February 14th.

Adam Harrison, noted for his large scale urban landscape paintings done on site over many months, has turned his brush on more intimate subject matter. In this new series, Harrison is revisiting interior still life setups over days and sometimes weeks to capture the subjects as they change over time.

Flowers bloom, and dry, and fall, and Harrison depicts them as they go through their life cycles.  The paintings are perfect in their imperfections – deeply symbolic and and hauntingly beautiful – an homage to our mortality and yet a reminder of the wonder of every moment.

Adam Harrison received his BFA from Laguna College of Art in 2005 and his MFA from California State University at Long Beach in 2012. The artist was awarded a Borgo Finocchieto Artist Residency in Tuscany, Italy in addition to receiving the Associates of Brand Library and Art Center Award and Best of show – Representational Works by The Art Studio. He has also participated in Mobile Arts and Architecture Exhibits: Temporary Art Installations funded by the Arts Council of Long Beach, CA. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions in galleries in Los Angeles and San Francisco as well as a solo exhibition at the Long Beach Museum of Art. Harrison lives and works in Los Angeles.
