Eric M. Renard: Solo Exhibition
Through three distinct bodies of work presented in a single exhibition, photographer Eric M. Renard explores the expressive possibilities of photography beyond simple documentation. Each series examines a different visual language—place, color, and light—revealing the extraordinary within everyday environment.
Los Angeles Overexposed
Born from the shifting landscapes of Los Angeles—a city where layers of aspiration and reality exist in a perpetual state of flux—Los Angeles Overexposed explores the palimpsestic nature of L.A., California, and beyond through multi-exposure photography. Each composition is an intricate construct of multiple exposures captured in iconic locations. By layering these temporal moments, the work transcends the limitations of a single, static frame, inviting viewers into images that are at once ephemeral, remembered, and imagined.
The Shape of Color
The Shape of Color explores color as a subject in its own right. Rather than documenting places or objects, these photographs invite viewers to experience the ways color defines space, evokes memory, and shapes perception. Familiar subjects recede as vibrant hues, subtle tonal relationships, and carefully observed compositions become the true focus.
The Architecture of Light
The Architecture of Light is an exploration of how light shapes our experience of the built environment. Working exclusively in black and white, these photographs reduce the visual world to its essential elements—light, shadow, form, texture, and space—revealing compositions often overlooked in the rhythm of everyday life. Architecture, silhouettes, and street scenes become studies in contrast, geometry, and the quiet interplay between light and darkness.
Together, these three exhibitions invite viewers to look beyond what a photograph depicts and instead experience how light, color, and composition shape the way we see the world.
