Elyse Pignolet’s fresh body of work expands on past themes that critique misogynistic discourse, yet push toward a new, more personal, direction. As a Filipina, Pignolet had a profound reaction to the mass shooting that targeted Asian women and killed eight people in Atlanta in March 2021. She created a body of work in response to that event that includes ceramic pieces and a Chinoiserie-style wallpaper with an all too familiar pagoda and orientalist theme. Also included is an installation of ceramics that towers 10 feet tall, a pyramid of vessel ‘facades,’ and new works on paper.
