Elwood T. Risk’s solo exhibition “Trigger Warning” marks the artist’s return to the LA gallery scene. Known for his striking use of shooting target imagery, Risk invites audiences to confront the tension between attraction and aversion in his work. These “true paper tigers,” as he describes them, embody a powerful duality—both menacing and mundane. Through these visuals, Risk delivers a potent socio-political commentary on contemporary American life, questioning the pervasive cultural forces that shape our identities, relationships, and ideologies.
Risk’s evolving practice delves into themes of hyper-masculinity, toxic dynamics, and the psychological underpinnings of gun culture, while maintaining a nuanced perspective. Though his art often employs provocative imagery, Risk asserts his staunch support for common-sense gun reform, offering a deeply personal and political lens without compromising the universal appeal of his work.
Solo. will be open Saturday and Sunday afternoons or by appointment.
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 8th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
