Painter Deirdre Sullivan-Beeman is one of three artists featured in the current exhibition at KP Projects, which runs through Saturday, April 24. Under the title “No Living Creature Knows,” Sullivan-Beeman – a self-taught figurative and surrealist artist – depicts her signature female subjects in dreamlike milieu, in play with their animal guides. She will meet-and-greet, and sign a limited edition of prints of her piece “Flamingo Girl,” from 2-4PM. April 24 is the final day to view the exhibit.
Sullivan-Beeman’s underlying sense of magic realism, combined with her many-layered egg-tempera technique, creates pieces that seem to glow from within, and connect with viewers on a subconscious, metaphysical level. In her artist’s statement, she says, “In this series of allegorical work, I connect the wisdom of living things with the wisdom of the unknown. The collective unconscious joins the contents of my dreams …pairing my female figures with their animal guides leads them all to truth.”
Also featured in the exhibition are artists by Carolynda Macdonald and Jean-Pierre Arboleda.
